- The largest one-hand fan
Going back to 1994, Ralf Laue made a name for himself in the casino hall of fame when he managed to hold up the largest fan of playing cards that anyone had ever seen! Laue held up a staggering 326 playing cards with just one hand, making sure that all the colours and value of every card were on display.
But, Laue’s stab at world record fame didn’t end there. The ambitious player went on to achieve additional world records that include pancake flipping and completely the fastest game of Operation.
- The most simultaneous slot spins
Moving onto 2013, the Mohegan Sun casino earnt the record for the largest slot machine tournament that the world had ever seen. And whilst this tournament was taking place, the casino also went onto break the record for the most slot machines to be running the same game, at the same time. Almost 6,000 slot machines were occupied when the record was broken.
There was a lot of excitement surrounding this game, as an extensive line of eager, prospective players formed around the building, waiting to register their place in the competition.
- The biggest Blackjack table
In 2012, the Viejas casino in Southern California grabbed their own piece of the record-breaking-action, constructing the largest fully-functional Blackjack table. This impressive feat measured a staggering 207 metres squared, with the poor dealer having to stand on top of the ginormous table in order to run the game.
But why did Viejas attempt this record? Well, this Blackjack table was constructed in honour of the casino’s 21st birthday, and they went on to allow six special guests to play on the comically oversized table, using equally as large casino chips and playing cards, made to the scale of the table.
- The farthest and fastest card-toss
Going back to playing cards, but moving away from the casino location, 2002 saw American Magician Rick Smith Jnr. added to his long list of playing card-related records. Smith Jnr. was already well known for performing astonishing card tricks, but on 21st March 2002 he took things to the next level. Taking to the stage at the Convocation Centre in Cleveland, Ohio, our record-breaking magician made his attempt to achieve the farthest and fastest card throw. This one iconic card-toss covered an incredible 65.96 metres, as well as flying through the air at 92 mph. and just like that, a world record was made!
